The air purification unit (APU) located in the rear of the instrument is designed to remove moisture and contaminants from the internal air flow of the air lines. The bottle contains blue Drierite® and charcoal. By way of instrument use the Drierite® turns pink as it absorbs moisture from the instruments air lines. When all but the last ½ of the blue Drierite® closest to the charcoal turns pink, this indicates it is time to replace with a new bottle.
This product has been precisely engineered and both laboratory and field tested to critical standards for use on the IONSCAN® 400B instrument. The depleted APU plastic bottle can be recycled as part of any local recycling program once the contents (non-hazardous) are disposed.
